It is difficult to estimate the antiquity of this tirth on the hill. But
many temples and ancient ruins show that it is very ancient. This is the
land of penance of Muni Gurudatt. He practised severe penance here. The
popular story goes that when Laxman was wounded in the battle between Ram
and Ravan, Hanuman took away Sanjivani from this hill to save Laxmanís
Besides this, there are 27 temples on the hill. Here is the cave where
Muni Gurudatt practised severe penance. His foot-idols are here. There are
two other temples at the foot of the hill.
