Tirth

It is in a lonely forest on the Kadambagiri hill at a distance of nearly 20 kilometers from Palitana.

Historicity

The antiquity of this place is related to that of Mt. Shetrunjaya. This is regarded as a peak of Mt. Shetrunjaya. There are three passages for going round the hill. This temple is in one of the three passages which is 18 miles long. Kadambamuni was a Gandhar of Bhagawan Nirvani, the second of the 24 Tirthankaras of the last group of Tirthankaras. Here he got salvation along with a number of monks. That is why this place is named Kadambagiri. This is among the group of the five sacred places belonging to the Shetrunjaya hill.

Other Temples

On the hill Kadambagiri, near the chief temple, there are two temples in which the chief idols are of Bhagawan Neminath and Simadhar Swami. On the top of the hill there are two small temples. In one of them there are idols of the feet of Bhagawan and in the other there are idols of the feet of Ganadhar. In the village at the foot of the hill, there is a large and beautiful temple of Mahavir.

The idol of Bhagawan Adinath on this hill, is splendid and very beautiful. There are many various hoarded artistic idols, The natural scene on the hill is very fascinating.

Guidelines

The nearest railway station of Palitana is 20 kilometers away. The ascent on the hill starts from the Kadamb village Buses and taxis can come here. Near the temple at the foot of the hill, there are dharmashalas and bhojanashalas. Swinging - cots are also available.
