Shri Talanpur Tirth

Mulnayak: Nearly 106 cms. high, light-blue-colored idol of Bhagawan Adishvar in the Padmansana posture.

Tirth: It is near the Kushni village.

Historicity: This tirth is very ancient. There is a mention that the ancient names of this place were Tarapur, Taranpur and Tungiyapattan. On an idol in the temple, there is an inscription that it was installed in the year 612 of the Vikram era. It is said that a farmer found 13 ancient idols and Svetambars and Digambars installed the idols in their several temples. It is difficult to find elsewhere idols of the color of the stone idols installed here. There is a mention that Pethod Shah, the advisor to the King of Mandavgadh built a temple here in the thirteenth century. This shows that it was a city of Jains for centuries. This idol was reinstalled under the auspicies of Acharya Rajendrasurishvarji in the year 1950 of the Vikram era. A fair is held here on the fifteenth day of the bright half of the month of Kartak.

Other Temples: Besides this temple, there is a Sigambar temple. In the Kushni village there is Svetambewr temple. It is a special feature of the green-coloured idol of Bhagawan Godiji Parshvanath that the eyes are the mark of pigments on forehead are attached to the idol.

Works of art and Sculpture: This is an ancient and historical tirth. In the temple and in the forests around the village, there are many ancient, beautiful and artistic remains are seen.

Guidelines: The nearest railway station, Mahu, is at a distance of nearly 160 kilometers and the nearest chief town of Kushni is at a distance of 5 kilometers. Bus service and private vehicles are available. Besides the temple there are Svetambar and Diogambar dharmashalas and there is also a bhojanshala.
