Mulnayak:
Nearly 137 cms high, black-colored idol of Bhagawan Neminath in the semi-Padmsana
posture.
Tirth:
It is near the Karkal village.
Historicity:
This temple was built in the year 1514 of the Vikram era. There is mention
that the then king gave wealth in gift for building this temple. Even
today, the stones of Karnkal are known to be strong and best for building
works. In front of the temple, there is an 1800 cms high measuring pillar.
It is made of a single stone. It cannot be found elsewhere. The art and
idols of sculpturists of this place have made their way into many temples.
Therefore, this is a famous place.
Other
Temples:
On the hill outside the village, there is a 1250 cms. high, standing idol
of Bhagawan Bahubali. There is also a temple of Bhagawan Adishvar. In it,
there is a four-mouthed idol of Bhagawan.
Works
of art and Sculpture:
As in many temples in India, the art of idol-maker is very spectacular.
Guidelines:
The nearest railway station of Karkal is at a distance of two kilometer
and Mangalore is at a distance of 50 kilometers. Bus service and private
vehicles are available. There are Boarding and lodging provisions near the
temple.
